Who’s This Guy?
lair Gowan has been playing piano since he was eight, drawn to all kinds of music along the way. He studied Jazz Performance at Victoria University from 2020 to 2022, sharpening his skills before diving into the local music scene. Since then, he’s played with artists like Big Sima, Mo Etc., Solar Daze, UNDUBBED, Groove Council, and Shivers, hitting stages at festivals like Electric Avenue and Northern Bass and touring around the country. When he’s not behind the keys, he’s teaching piano privately—five years and counting—helping others find their way through music.
Early in the Peace
"Early in the Peace" is a hip-hop EP by Big Sima & Boomtown, showcasing a fusion of classic boom-bap beats and live instrumentation. The EP includes Aotearoa and Damn, which were recorded and mixed at The Surgery Studios and feature the full band. With hard-hitting lyricism and dynamic production, Early in the Peace reflects Aotearoa’s unique hip-hop sound.
Once Upon a Clyde
"Once Upon a Clyde" is a conceptual jazz fusion album featuring Blair Gowan, Alex Cooper and Ciaran Egan. The album follows the journey of Clyde, an enigmatic entity navigating the process of creation, wrestling with perfectionism, and embracing spontaneity.
